On May 7, the Baltic Dry Freight Index (BDI) surged 207 points or 11 points, driven by the Large Ship Freight Indexcoinsfreecoinmaster.03%, reaching 2083 points, the highest since March 25.

Among them, the capesize freight index rose sharply by 21.2% to 3239 points, and the average daily profit exceeded US$4698 and soared to US$26864.

The Panamax freight index also rose 65 points, or about 3.5% to 1949 points, and the average daily profit increased by US$593 to US$17545. The ultra-flexible bulk carrier freight index rose slightly by 3 points to 1461 points.

Analysts at Jefferies pointed out that the dry bulk market exceeded expectations, and spot activity on capesize vessels in major loading areas such as Australia (iron ore), Brazil (iron ore) and West Africa (bauxite) remained high.
